Issues

Our neighborhoods thrive when leadership listens, acts, and delivers results. From safe streets and vibrant parks to accessible healthcare and strong local jobs, these issues touch every part of our lives.

Mitch Gore is committed to practical solutions that strengthen our communities, support families, and create opportunities for everyone.

Public Safety

As a Major with the Sheriff’s Office, Mitch knows public safety inside and out. He believes real public safety means battling the scourge of gun violence and confronting the addiction and mental health crises that often fuel instability and crime. Mitch has led efforts to keep nonviolent people suffering from addiction out of the justice system and sponsored bipartisan legislation to expand mental health treatment across Indiana.

Healthcare

Mitch is committed to making healthcare more affordable and more accessible. He has authored or supported legislation to reign in the cost of prescription drugs, fix the broken prior authorization system, cap what highly profitable hospitals can charge for procedures and services, and allow women to make reproductive healthcare decisions that are right for them.

Affordability

Working people are getting squeezed from every direction while big corporations and special interests keep coming out ahead. Mitch believes if you work hard, you ought to be able to afford a home, see a doctor, keep the lights on, and raise a family without falling behind. He’ll fight to bring down the costs of housing, healthcare, childcare, and utilities and make government start working for ordinary people again instead of the wealthy and well-connected.

Corruption

Too many politicians and insiders treat taxpayer dollars like their own personal piggy bank. Mitch believes public office is a public trust, and that means cracking down on waste, self-dealing, and abuse. That’s why he passed a bill to prohibit government officials from buying luxury vehicles with tax dollars. He’ll keep fighting to make government live by the same rules as everyone else, stop sweetheart deals for the well-connected, and make sure taxpayers are paying for results, not perks.

Workers

Mitch believes working people deserve a fair shot and a government that has their back. That means standing with unions, repealing right-to-work (for less), and fighting for better wages, benefits, and dignity on the job. Mitch has also delivered for veterans by authoring legislation to exempt active-duty pay and military retirement income from state taxes and by successfully passing the law that created Indiana’s Green Alert to help find missing veterans and get them home safely.

Democracy

Our system of government has been warped by career politicians, special interests, and big money that keeps stacking the deck against ordinary people. Mitch supports term limits at every level, getting money out of politics, tougher ethics laws, more transparency, and stronger protections for the right to vote.

Economic Development

Mitch’s family has operated restaurants on Indy’s East and Southeast sides for over 30 years. Mitch understands better than most the need to drive investment in our economy, get businesses into empty storefronts, and bring good paying jobs back to our side of town.
