Get to Know Mitch
After spending his entire life on Indianapolis’s East and Southeast sides, Mitch is a recognized community advocate, small business operator, and public safety professional. Mitch worked hard to keep his family’s Washington Square restaurant afloat during the Great Recession. As a product of public schools and a working family, Mitch knows what it’s like to hustle for positive results.
Mitch worked in community development for the City of Indianapolis, eliminating blight in our neighborhoods, demolishing unsafe buildings, and taking on out-of-state slumlords. Now, a Major with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Mitch works to rethink how we treat mental health and addiction so we can free up space in our jails for the violent criminals. He believes in compassionate policing and knows that the best way to keep everyone safe is for law enforcement to respect the people they serve thereby earning the peoples’ trust.
Since being elected in 2020, Mitch has successfully passed several pieces of legislation to reform and enhance law enforcement, battle the scourge of gun violence, protect and uplift Hoosier veterans and servicemembers, and stamp out government corruption. He has also proudly voted to reduce healthcare costs, increase teacher pay and student achievement, and keep the government out of women’s personal healthcare decisions.
Mitch and his incredible wife, Brittany, have one daughter, Melinda, and a goofy dog named Zac. They proudly live in Warren Township.
I’ll draw on my real-world experience in small business, community development, and public safety to fight for working people who too often get the shaft while big business and insiders cut themselves a better deal. I’ll push to invest in our infrastructure and local economy, put families in affordable homes, fill empty storefronts, and bring good-paying jobs back to our community. And I’ll use my public safety expertise to make our criminal justice system smarter, fairer, and more effective by addressing the root causes of crime, cracking down on violent criminals, and getting illegal guns off the street.
